JFA Medical elasticated compression bandages are intended for the use of sprains and strains. Compression bandages are an important component of the RICE management method. THE RICE method includes 4 steps:
1. REST – Stop exercising and limit daily physical activity.
2. ICE – Use an ice pack, a bag of frozen peas or similar on the injured area. Remember to firstly wrap the ice pack in a towel so that it does not directly touch your skin.
3. COMPRESSION – Apply an elasticated compression bandage to the affected area. Compression helps to reduce swelling.
4. ELEVATION. Elevate the injured area so that it is above the level of your heart. This also helps to limit swelling.
